Presentation

The Physiotherapy Degree aims to train general physiotherapists with scientific preparation and sufficient training to be able to describe, identify, treat and compare health problems that can be resolved through physiotherapy, using a series of methods, procedures, models, techniques and actions which, through the application of physical treatments, prevent, cure, recover and readapt people affected by impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health, resulting from injury, illness or any other causes. These treatments will also be used in the promotion and maintenance of health, and in the prevention of illnesses and their consequences. This is done, always taking into consideration the individual’s three dimensions: biological, psychological and social.

 

At EUNEIZ, we propose a specific teaching plan that allows the student to focus on their lines of interest, emphasising the close and direct relationship with the teaching staff, the use of agile methodologies and teamwork. All this through ‘learning by doing’, which promotes the training of future professionals in a practical way and in real situations so that they can develop all their skills and abilities.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Today, technology is increasingly present in all areas of health, including physiotherapy. For this reason, the Physiotherapy Degree is oriented towards the incorporation of technological tools to develop innovative treatments, which also contribute to the improvement in the effectiveness of the diagnostics and therapeutic results.

Students can design and develop IT tools and applications (APPs) for mobile devices to incorporate them in their physiotherapeutic task, both in that related to the diagnosis as well as the treatment provided in various areas of action.

The synergies with different technological studies developed at EUNEIZ allow us to carry out collaborative projects in order to prepare the students for the digital future.

Health Profession

Physiotherapy is marked by a clear vocation to work for the recuperation and/or maintenance of people’s health and well-being. Physiotherapists find employment quickly and there is a high employment rate in a health sector with an ever-increasing demand.

Work Placements and Mobility

We offer the possibility of carrying out extracurricular work placements from the end of the first academic year onwards, and we promote mobility through international agreements with institutions in Europe and America, as well as SICUE (Exchange System between Spanish Universities) agreements with several Spanish universities.

Specialisation and Research

We have a strong commitment to research and knowledge transfer, and we therefore work on various subjects of the Degree with the aim that students acquire theoretical and practical training in the preparation and development of research projects.

The student must complete and pass 3 optional subjects (18 credits) from among those offered: Orthoses and Prostheses, Sports Physiotherapy, Physiotherapy in Oncology, Image Diagnosis in Physiotherapy, Nutrition in Physiotherapy, Design and Development Projects for Interactive Content for Physiotherapy, Programming of Physiotherapy Apps for Mobile Devices.

Access Requirements

Under the terms and conditions set forth in the aforementioned Royal Decree and the regulations in force, access to the course may be granted to those who meet any of the following requirements (see the access requirements for the University Degree in Physiotherapy).

The University does not envisage any access tests being required for this degree. Thus, access to the first course of the degree will be through university pre-registration, a system that guarantees equal conditions in the entry process for the first year of any university course.

Abilities Acquired

Physiotherapy graduates will acquire a comprehensive and competitive professional profile with the acquisition of the following skills:

  • Have a knowledge of and understand the morphology, physiology, pathology and conduct of both healthy and sick people, in the natural and social environment.
  • Have a knowledge of and understand the sciences, models, techniques and instruments which provide the basis, structure and development of physiotherapy.
  • Have a knowledge of and understand the physiotherapy methods, procedures and actions, aimed at both the therapy itself to be applied in the clinic for re-education or functional recovery, and at carrying out activities designed to promote and maintain health.
  • Acquire the appropriate clinical experience that provides intellectual abilities and technical and manual skills that facilitate the incorporation of ethical and professional values; and that develop the capacity to integrate acquired knowledge, so that, by the end of the studies, the students know how to apply them to both specific clinical cases in hospitals and for outpatients and to actions in primary and community care.
  • Assess the patient’s functional status, taking into account the physical, psychological and social aspects.
  • Design the physiotherapy intervention plan, based on adequacy, validity and efficiency criteria.
  • Execute, direct and coordinate the physiotherapy intervention plan, using specific therapeutic tools and taking care of the user’s individuality.
  • Evaluate the evolution of the results obtained with the treatment in relation to the objectives set.
  • Prepare the discharge report for physiotherapy care once the proposed objectives have been met.
  • Provide effective physiotherapy support, giving comprehensive care to patients.
  • Intervene in the areas of health promotion, prevention, protection and recovery.
  • Know how to work in professional teams as a basic unit, working with other professionals in healthcare organisations which may be structured in a unidisciplinary or multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary way.
  • Incorporate ethical and legal principles into professional practice and integrate social and community aspects when it comes to making decisions.
  • Participate in the development of physiotherapy protocols based on scientific evidence, encouraging professional activities that stimulate research.
  • Carry out physiotherapy interventions based on the comprehensive health care that involves multi-professional cooperation, the integration of processes and the continuity of care.
  • Acquire clinical management skills that include the efficient use of health resources and develop planning, management and control activities in the care units in which physiotherapy treatment is provided and its relationship with other health services.
  • Identify the effects of physical exercise on the structure and function of the human body.
  • Understand the fundamental structures, and functions of human motor skills and patterns.
  • Identify the effects of physical exercise on the psychological and social aspects of humans.
  • Understand the fundamentals of fitness in carrying out physical activity and sport.

Career Opportunities

With regard to the insertion of graduates into the employment market, as a result of the scientific and skills-based nature of the qualification, a wide range of career opportunities have been identified. The professional can work in:

  • The treatment of pathologies in medical and surgical specialities
  • Pathology prevention and health promotion activities
  • Research, teaching and management in the field of physiotherapy
  • Independent professional practice

  • Registration in the Register of Universities, Centres and Qualifications (RUCT in its Spanish acronym).
  • Publication of the Council of Ministers Agreement (Pt. 5) in the Official State Bulletin (BOE in its Spanish acronym).
