University choir

The EUNEIZ University Choir is an initiative open to the entire university community, launched by the Music Department in the 2022-2023 academic year as an interfaculty forum for collective vocal practice. Currently composed of 30 students and faculty members, the choir rehearses once a week in 90-minute sessions. Its repertoire is diverse and eclectic, ranging from contemporary music pieces to vocal adaptations of film scores, popular songs, and arrangements of urban genres. In addition to performing at key events on the academic calendar, the choir hopes to participate in exchanges with other universities, community outreach activities in the city, and international events.
As a cultural ambassador for the institution, the university choir fosters a sense of belonging among students, faculty and administrative staff, strengthens the bond with society and reinforces the image of the university as a promoter of culture and art.

Periodic events

Official Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year

This is the first performance of the academic year. In addition to the traditional university anthem, “Gaudeamus Igitur,” the choir performs various pieces in an event that officially inaugurates the academic year. It was at this event, in 2022, that the EUNEIZ choir made its formal debut. The choir’s founding—at the same time as the university—demonstrates the importance given to this initiative—closely linked to the field of music, but also extending beyond it—within our community.

Koro Kalean

Since the first year of university activities, “Koro Kalean” has been a regular feature of the EUNEIZ music group. On Christmas Eve, the EUNEIZ choir parades through the streets of downtown Vitoria-Gasteiz, singing carols of various origins, with the aim of conveying their best wishes to all the residents of Vitoria for the holidays, as well as sharing the university’s “musical vocation” with the city that hosts them.

EUNEIZ Day

Another important date for the choir is EUNEIZ Day, celebrated on May 17th. In a festive atmosphere, they offer a concert for the entire university community, an event that marks the culmination of their work throughout the year.
