EUNEIZ University is participating in the Body Composition and Nutrition Network for Athletes with Physical Disabilities (CONDiF), a project whose main goal is to generate and transfer scientific knowledge applied to nutrition and health in adaptive sports. The initiative has received funding from the 2025 Research Networks in Sports Science Grants by the Spanish Government\u2019s Higher Sports Council (CSD).<\/p>\n
The research team, composed of 15 researchers from seven Spanish universities, focuses on developing evidence-based, personalized nutritional strategies tailored to the specific needs of athletes with physical disabilities. The project also aims to transfer this knowledge through practical guides, scientific publications, and educational activities for both sports professionals and athletes.<\/p>\n
The network also has a strong social component, aiming to make a significant impact on inclusion and quality of life for athletes with disabilities, while promoting gender equality by addressing the specific needs of female athletes.<\/p>\n
Coordinated by the University of Alicante, the network includes a multidisciplinary team of experts in kinanthropometry, nutrition, and sports science from various institutions. Representing EUNEIZ University is Dr. Rub\u00e9n Jim\u00e9nez Alfageme, a Health Sciences PhD and specialist in sports nutrition. He highlights the project\u2019s \u201cinnovation and real-world applicability, by developing evidence-based personalized nutritional strategies to improve the health and performance of athletes with physical disabilities.\u201d He also notes that research in this area is \u201cstill very limited,\u201d giving the project a significant \u201csocial\u201d dimension, both in its commitment to gender equality and in improving the quality of life for these athletes.<\/p>\n
Other academic institutions involved in the CONDiF network include the University of Valladolid, University of Granada, University of Valencia, Pontifical University of Salamanca, and Isabel I University. The network also collaborates with leading organizations and professionals in sports and nutrition, such as the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF), Emen4sport Center, the Performance Advisory Center of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, the Coordinator of the Scientific Knowledge Management Area and the Center for Scientific Evidence Analysis of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Evidence-Based Nutrition Network (RED-NuBE).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
